Liberal leftist strategy 101: Dismissing the Second Amendment through emotional impetus

The Second Amendment, glorious and strong, the very linchpin that holds the whole of The US Constitution together, is being dismissed by the emotional, knee-jerking of the liberal left. Walk with me as I assume the role of said liberal leftist. Enjoy.

Here’s the strategy

First:  You need someone who has lost a child or loved one to someone killing them with a gun. (If that doesn’t work, you need to find someone who has survived a shooting, like former Arizona Representative Giffords. This makes for good copy. And an especially great photo op.) At times it is necessary to turn the caskets of the dead into our soapboxes of societal evolution.

Sandy Hook presents an amazing opportunity for this. No one, we reason, would dare question the validity of their tears and mourning all the while pushing forth our anti-gun agenda talking point that says guns should be banned, and that guns and guns alone killed their child/loved one.

Second:  You need to foment a sense of expertise based on trauma.

Since a person has experienced such tragedy, this automatically qualifies them to speak expertly about said tragedy. According to us, all the family members of those shot in Sandy Hook are now Constitutional experts, and know everything there is to know about gun control in our American history. Whatever these family members say needs to be listened to, adhered to, and written in our Constitution. Their trauma is really our benefit.

Third:  Blame the Second Amendment. (This is the real focus of our plan)

It’s simple, really. When confronted with the ‘truth’ that the Second Amendment did not kill anyone and has never killed anyone, go to the tried-and-true tactic of, “Do you know what it feels like to lose a child to guns? If there were no Second Amendment, this would never have happened.” Be sure to use the word ‘never’ with authority. This is more powerful if you say it with hands on hips in feigned indignation, or watery eyes, as though you are on the brink of crying. Emotion is your friend, and a ready ally.

Make sure to point out that your rights to life, liberty, happiness, justice, etc, cannot be trumped by the Second Amendment. Again, go to the ‘lose a child to guns’ tactic. It is because of the Second Amendment that these kids are dead, after all. You must hammer that point home! Your rights to life cannot be pushed aside because some gun nuts want to have their precious little guns. We all know they are extremists who are planning on creating some kind of civil war so they can shoot you or me. Just go to the NRA website and you’ll see what I mean. The NRA is not actually unhinged, as we say to the public, but we need to be able to present them as being so. Stay focused!

Be sure to point out that no one needs to have these “assault weapons” that are “military grade” for “private ownership” unless your intent is to kill large groups of people at one time. Focus on “assault weapons”. Focus on the need for people to believe they need “assault weapons”, and be sure to point out Sandy Hook and all the dead kids, shot because the shooter had a “large capacity magazine” for his “assault weapon”.

The gun is the villain. Not the person holding said gun. It serves no purpose to vilify a real person and their wicked heart. It is much easier and serves a greater purpose to blame an inanimate object, devoid of the ability to make its own decisions because, well, it’s not alive. It’s a gun. You must be able to tie the Second Amendment together with guns in general. “Guns kill! Guns kill! The Second Amendment allows for guns to kill!” Practice saying that again and again.

These right-wing nutjobs are exactly like President Obama said: clinging to their guns and their religion. They blindly believe in that archaic and out-dated document, the Constitution, and refuse to evolve intellectually or socially. This is 2013, not 1776. The Constitution, at one time perhaps a useful tool, needs to be reshaped into a more suitable document for our New America. First things first: we need to vilify The Second Amendment totally and completely.

Some myths about The Second Amendment

To counter the arguments and baseless debates from the gun-clingers, you will need to know the truth about this Second Amendment thing. They will say it guarantees the right of private gun ownership. This is a lie. This Second Amendment only guarantees the right to a militia that is State-run and regulated, as in the National Guard.

They will say that guns are part of our American history, or as I have heard it said, part of our “American spirit”. They can’t prove this. How many innocent people have been killed because of this so-called “American spirit”? Chicago alone, with amazing gun laws, is rife with homicides due to guns. These killers all believe they have the ‘right to bear and keep arms’. Well, look at what this has done to our nation so far.

They will say that the Second Amendment was written to protect us from a corrupt government. Of course they do. Ever since President Obama has been in office, these right-wingers have hated him and are hoping to eventually overthrow our government because they are basically racist and mentally unhinged. They are merely looking for an excuse to start shooting. Their poster boy, Alex Jones, pretty much said it all when he ranted and raved like a rabid dog on Piers Morgan. Alex Jones is the right-wing gun-clingers’ best example.

The truth is that this Second Amendment is just another rightist ideal that should die like the rest, and make room for our New America. We don’t need guns, except for the police and for the military. No one needs to hunt for sport or for meat in our New America, since it violates the rights of animals to live and we have more than enough grocery stores to buy food. When only police have guns in normal and enlightened society, we will all be safer.

In closing, allow me to say that The Second Amendment needs to go. It’s time to grow and evolve as a nation. It’s time to confiscate guns from gun owners and protect society. If the Second Amendment is prohibiting us from having our New America, then it needs to be dissolved once and for all.

We need to capitalize on these deaths in Sandy Hook while the iron is hot and while it is part of our national narrative! We need to empower our President to do the right thing!
